Site Work Update

Land continues to grow at the site of the Rig Museum. Just three years ago the property was barely above sealevel. Today, the parking area is fourteen (14) feet above sea level!

During the first week in November, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers pumped silt from the Atchafalaya River for the third time, onto museum property. This last harvest from the river will provide the fill sand needed to finalize some of the site work. In addition, it will be used to raise the roadway to provide access across the railroad track from Front Street.

Eventually, the site will be raised from the floodwall to the river's edge, with the lowest portion being fourteen feet above sea level.
